Many people wonder:
Why is a chapter about sorrow called a Yoga?
In the chapter titles of the Bhagavad Gita, yoga does not mean posture.
It means a path.
So this chapter is not simply describing despair.
It is naming despair as terrain the path runs through.
Chapter 1 takes place before the Bhagavad Gita's teaching begins.
Two armies stand ready.
A blind king asks what is happening.
A warrior asks to see the field clearly.
What follows is forty-six verses of a mind moving — and we will walk through it one shloka at a time.
